Title: Mini Track and Field
Post by: 1500points on December 16, 2017, 05:57:08 pm
Having the tiny Tempest cab at the local arcade led to a friend wanting an economy sized Track and Field.
Very popular title so it is expensive and hard to find in the midwest.
Decided to make him a 4ft tall version with an 18in wide control panel.

Found very decent feeling leafs from virtua pin so having a go at building it for him.

Work so far.

The reduced size seems to be laying out well.

Simple infrastructure done.  Time to add the other side panel then measure some plexi.

Working and off to my friend just in time for the holidays.
The Virtua Pin pinball leaf buttons feel superb during gameplay.
Added Hypersports and using AdvanceMAME 1.4 with the single boot to Track and Field at boot up (important- splash screen disabled in retropie menu)

A buddy will skin it with vinyl artwork in future.

I really like this project sofar!

Very nice looking case. Do you have the drawings to share for this for me ?

I have next project also waiting with all the goods and still thinking about the case model. Its going to be a full cab like this. Are you using a 19" 4:3 monitor?

Unfortunately I don't have any plans nor do I have the cab since the owner wanted it to play over the holidays, in raw finish.

I simply made it 18inches wide to hold the 19in Dell 4:3 LCD.
The sides were drawn onto 48inx24in 3/4in MDF panels.

Then I used a typical 8.5x11 print of the profile to come up with the angles and kept working it until it felt right.  PDF image attached.
I drew out all of the braces on the panel until it held the control panel and monitor properly, with the wood I had available.
The curves were simply done with a compass until I liked the feel.
