Title: Games in MAME suddenly restarting mid game
Post by: lisowskikevin on November 25, 2017, 10:04:34 pm: Hey guys, anyone else have this problem? Sometimes during gameplay the game will reset itself back to the initializing screen of the rom in MAME.

Doesn’t happen all the time but it happens with different games.

Any ideas?

- Which ROMs reset?
- Build and version of MAME? (i.e. GroovyMAME v0.189)
- Front End?
- Support programs? (i.e. Joy2key, MAMEHooker, etc.)
- Operating System?
- Encoder?
- What key is assigned to Reset Game? (usually F3)
- Is that key programmed into the encoder?
- Is a keyboard plugged into the system?

Sorry my bad. I'm going to look into my presets to see if maybe thats the problem.

FYI I'm using windows 7 with Hyperspin and an IPAC4. The ROMS that sometimes reset are Turtles the Arcade Game and Simpsons. No keyboard plugged in. Not using any extra programs like MAME Hooker. Older version of MAME from a few years ago 1.61 I believe.

But I will double check some stuff on my end, I was just curious if anyone else has run into this. The screen kind of freezes for about 4 seconds then boots me to the startup of the ROM screen of the game.

So random. Thats why its hard to nail down a cause.

It’s your wife, she gets annoyed by the sounds played while the game is in attract mode.
