Title: My First Arcade Build
Post by: shaktar on November 21, 2017, 08:05:42 pm
Hi all

So I have just started my first build that i hope to complete for Christmas, as a gift for the kids.

I have use of the CNC at work and have made up a prototype. As you can see in the pictures i did do the controls the wrong way so the recessed bits were on the top and not the bottom.

I have a new and improved version all ready to cut out any day now, will get pics when its cut.

I am just looking for artwork to use on it now, we also have a vinyl cutter and printer so just after some good files to print from.

Totally agree on the bezel, sexy.  Can't wait to see the art kit on this.

Looks good! Would love to hear how you developed the CNC design, I'm trying to learn more about designing for CNC.

Looks good.  Question though, why did you route it on top of the panel but mount the joystick from underneath?  Was that just for the pic and you will flush mount it properly later?

Lookin good! I am envious of anyone who has use of a CNC machine... would build everything my mind could conceive. The bezel does look very nice.

As for the joysticks, I assume you're gonna cap the top with plexi anyways, ya?

I noticed that too, Apparently in his first post he did admit to that (not so right), quick fix I would suppose would be cut steel (stainless) patches for the top and just move on....As for the machine, Oh yes that is dreamy,  8), But I just cant shake the reservations Jenn would have  about the Overall implications vs benefits of owning such a beast.

So

I got my V2 file cut out, primed it, sanded and then painted it at work and all the artwork done. I managed to then build it all on christmass eve for the kids.
Will get some better pictures when I get home.

Aw jeez, man, ya know, I thought you were gonna use the Darkade art, aw jeez.

Love me some Rick and Morty. Should have called it the Rickade. It's what Rick would have done.
