I have built a hand full of retropie (raspberry pi) based arcade cabinets but i would like to build a Golden Tee Fore Complete cabinet. I beleive the year is 2005 of this release. The cabinet, monitor, buttons, track ball will all be straight forward for me but i have no idea what i need for the guts. I don’t beleive i can use a raspberry pi so i wwas wondering if i should be a desktop computer to stick in. I will just say i pretty much have no idea what i need or where to start for the guts. Thanks

this thread might be a good place to start. you are going to need some fairly decent computer to start...

to quickly quote:
The performance running in medium resolution was totally acceptable on Mame 167 and versions prior leading up to gtfore06's release into Mame.
The performance on Mame 168 seems to have seriously digressed. Low-Alt resolution restores functionality, but obviously not the good looks.

I have a core i5 and it runs great. Little bit of skipping when hit into the trees. On my more expensive i7 it ran just the same. Aim for a core i5 should be enough

an i7 can perform worse than an i5 or even an i3 depending on the core speed. bigger number is not necessarily better. :dunno

I think is cheaper to buy the real board with this one.

I am not opposed to buying an the original iT board, but i enjoy learning from new projects. Thanks for input

I just checked eBay and I saw one listed $350 with no hard drive so it might be $400 with one. Those Fore boards also have video card problems pop up with them quite a bit so who knows how long it will last.
