Hi guys,
I'm sorry to bring up the subject again, but I haven't yet got some satisfying answers.
I'm testing some roms using mame32. The PC is a PIV, 512Mb with a Nvidea 64Mb (that should be enought for the subject). The problem is that the games I've tried work way to fast... they are nothing like the speed I remember and so it becomes hard e not so interest to play.
Is there a way to verify that the speed is the correct one ?
I've tried for instance the game "(Status) Triv Two" wich has a clock and the seconds go kinda like 3 seconds every real one passes.
Are there others I can use to test ?
Is there a way to tell mame the processor speed so that he adusts itself ?
I'de realy like some help on this ... cause I'm becoming a little disapointed ...
Thanks

you probably have sync refresh set. I dont' know where the setting in mame32 is (dont' use it).
MOST arcade games don't run at 60fps. They run at 52, 58, 63... whatever... But if you force mame to run at 60fps or faster, you will always get messed up results.

The settings that I have near that are:
Match Game Refresh Rate [On]
Frame skipping [draw every frame]
Sync to monitor refresh [Off]
Wait for vertical Sync [Off]
Triple buffering [Off]
Any good ?

Sounds like you may have unchecked the "Throttle" option. I think it is in the general options of mame32, and I know you can turn it on and off on the fly in standard mame by hitting F10.
Throttle makes mame play as close to the original speed as it can, when its off it will just go as fast as it can - so with a fast machine you will run (some) games way to fast.
Or, you have become old and slow since your youth and the games just seem that fast.... ;-)

^^ What he said
WHen youre playing hit F11 and it should pop a live frame rate counter up at the top of your screen. It SHOULD be reading 100% 58/58 (or whatever is correct for the game) If it's over 100%, hit F10 and see if that changes it back
If this is constantly happening(where its running >100%) youve got some option set somewhere to turn off the auto throttle

Hi,
It didn't do it for Triv, but it seems the game is not Ok. It's Ok on 1942 for instance ... perfect second count when waiting for "continue?"...
You guys have restored my faith in mame ;D
Thanks a lot for your help.
Thats what I love about forums ... there always someone who knows the answer ... :D
