Title: Anyway to invert/flip/mirror lcd monitor?
Post by: Brian74 on October 16, 2017, 10:20:40 pm
I need to replace the monitor in my mame'd revolution x cabinet. Cant find another 25" crt so looking at lcd's. I need to flip the screen so if you were to see it in a mirror, it would look correct.

I think you have a light gun game, which means you need a crt. LCD sucks anyways. Ask for help repairing your crt. Lots of knowledgeable people here and on klov.

RevoX doesn't use light guns, so an lcd would work. But, once you've converted the signal and then maybe run it through some sort of teleprompter box and then add in the input delay of lcd itself, you'll be in a heap of regret. Fix the CRT.

good day.

i ran into this when i wanted to update a space invaders cab.  I was just sure it would be easy to come up with some technology.
First no one in my area was willing to offer up a working arcade CRT.
Finally, I went with raspberry pi which has a config.txt setting for flipping and went with LCD.
Turned the brightness way up on the lcd and in the Pi settings and it reflected super great.

I'm chuckling since I interjected the proverbial Pi reference in the Main area.....sorry!

In this case you are going to have to get a CRT fixed, good luck! :)

Thanks for the replies guys. When I got the cab it didn't have guns or any boards. I managed to get some guns and threw in a pc. I have ffb working with some games but trying to script mamehooker is beyond me lol. Guess I gotta find another 25" crt or see of I can fit a 27" in it.

What’s the problem with the current monitor? As long as the tube hasn’t gone bad, these things generally aren’t that hard to fix.

I can hear it power on. No picture, no orange glow in the neck.

I dont think you ever played RevX if you think a delay is going to effect it much. He's also not converting the signal, he's using a PC to emulate.  I thought you could do CTRL+ALT+arrows to flip and rotate the pic .......  Does RevX in MAME have a dip to mirror the screen? I know that wont fix all of them but I think a lot of games have the option (I know all the CPS2 games do)

He completely left out the fact that the cab is mame'd in his op. I answered as if the cab was running original hardware and looking to drop an lcd in. Carry on.
