Title: Problems still with Hyperspin ja Rocketlauncher (modified subject)
Post by: proplayer77 on October 16, 2017, 06:09:20 am
Im thinking about my next project, which i mean to do PC based but experienced so much difficulties with Hyperspin and Mame that got frustrated allready with that. Was trying to config it first with my laptop and did everything according to instructions but cant get games running on Mame. Dont know if Lakka supports mamesystem though.

So, if any1 has experience from Lakka i would appreaciate all info possible. It seems to have a bit rough look to it, but if it makes the job done easily, why not.
Or of course im all ears for other suggestions too.
I have many old pc:s i can use now, several laptops (i3 -> i7), one gaming machine and some older 5-7 year old pc:s and some lcd:s, 17" 4:3, few 22" 16:9 and one 24" full hd. One 24" i used allready on my bartop thats 90% progress. More info about that Retropie project here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=155300.msg1629332#msg1629332 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=155300.msg1629332#msg1629332)

As i attend to make my own cabinets, i would like to have the emulator part to be as simple as it gets to use and configurate - i bet i have a big audience on these thoughts :D

Edit: Titch made me still try Hyperspin and i made some progress  :applaud:

Have you sought help on the HS forums? They are pretty good over there and helped me out with some pretty obscure problems!

HS is ok once you learn how it works, but its a steep curve to start.

Took me 2 days the first time i used it to get it fully functional!

As for mame, thats usually pretty straightforward unless you are trying to do something out of the norm with it?

Ok, now i get some games to work, not all though, but i bet thats the case! I copied the Databases folders from Hyperspin to be under Rocketlauncher. A bit unlogical? Btw: should i remove the games that RocketLauncherUI puts to red (cant audit)?

Any good advice how to get pictures of the games to MAME, none of the games has a preview picture?

Also how to make Win10 (or7) to start directly to Hyperspin? From msconfig?

To start it with windows just put a shortcut in the start up menu of the start menu.

Dont get confused with mame previews.

You want HS to have access to the pics/videos not mame.
Mame is just used to emulate and play with HS nothing cosmetic.

As for databases you need the same databases in HS & RL.
It confused me to start but yeah.

About the preview, how to make the HS to fetch the pictures / previews. If ill use Hyperspin and Rocketlauncher on my next project, it would be nice to have them too. Of course im not putting all the mame games to the next project.

"To start it with windows just put a shortcut in the start up menu of the start menu."
i want hyperspin to run when i start the computer automaticly?

Yup that will start it automatically when windows starts.

Pictures, videos etc go into the media folders of HS.

Now it works ok. What do you do with the games that dont audit (red), should i remove them?

Up to you really.

If they dont work then you may as well loose them though.

Glad you got it working. In addition to what Titch suggested, I also found that Simply Austin on Youtube was great for Hyperspin related tutorials regarding setup.

I in fact did the original setup looking his videos, but missed this part where to choose the default also from the start page of front end of rocketlauncherUI.

I may now a working windows 10 based setup plan for next project after bartop is finished.
Allready ordered controls for it. Got all the electronics gathered. On bartop RPI mame games arent working as good as in Hyperspin, dont know why....

May leave the RPI bartop for other emus, megadrive, snes, atari are working quite well.
