Title: coin mech compatibility
Post by: f.pelosa on October 03, 2017, 04:38:23 am
Hi all,
I'm looking for a comparator coin mechanism that is compatible to the standard coin door we found on the real arcade cabinets.

I see that there are several versions of the comparator mechanism, all of them looking more or less like this:
e.g. http://www.amusementdistributors.com/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=1030 (http://www.amusementdistributors.com/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=1030)

As these models are very ugly :(
I wonder if either I can take them apart and attach the mechanism to a coin door (which I doubt it's a possible option)
or if I can buy a mech that is compatible with a standard coin door.

Thanks for your help!

What do you call a standard coin door?

There are several.

Are there different standards?

There are several different types of coin door.

That looks like a IL mini coin door.
They use the 3.5” snap in mechs I believe but I have never seen a multi one if thats what you are after?

Ime no expert though so hopefully someone else will be able to offer something more solid :)

You can buy doors that fit the type of mech you listed above.

Like this one:

right.. but it will still look very ugly to me.
I am trying to find something that looks like this https://imgur.com/a/koL6O?
but with a comparator mechanism.

* when I say 'that looks like this' I mean a big black metal door with a slot for the coin and a hole for retrieving the coin.
And it may have one or two coin slots, it doesn't really matter.

Sorry I cant suggest anything.
But remember if you get a industrial mech you will need a means to program it!

No arcade games ever used those.

This one fits in normal coin mech slots(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171008/3251946ce151f3a006bb1c935c976d15.jpg)

I may not be understanding what the OP wants but based on his pictures it sounds like he wants a standard coin mech and door like this:
