"Hop around on a pogo stick collecting prizes in a garden while avoiding enemy cats."
(It was a toss-up between 3 not-so-great sequels to great games. It could have been worse: Peter Pepper's Ice Cream Factory or Dig Dug II!)

Opener: 2,740. High score entry is tricky...

Points-wise this one seems to be all about doing well in the bonus stages. Always go fast, collect as many balloons as you can, but most importantly, collect the big balloons as they are worth 500 points each. In the other stages, collecting items in pairs starts a multiplier, you can get 790 points max for a stage (without using the ? box). I got about 3k to 3.3k per bonus stage.
When 'opening' the ? box, I go for the red diamond, which gives a 3-digit random score.

Getting the ? box three times in a row (i.e. in level 1,2 & 3) gives you the chance to earn an extra life. To get the box in level 3, collect the russian dolls, the letters m a p p y will spill out, collect them to get the extra life.

PPICF and Dig Dug 2 are actually 2 of my all time favourite arcade games.. Always felt like the original Dig Dug was just a poor man's Mr Do (which was later basically just copied with scrolling to make Boulder Dash) and the original Burger Time just felt never clicked with me at all, even if I did enjoy the concept of it on other platforms. PPICF and Dig Dug 2 feel more like unique games.
this on the other hand I really don't like at all

And then set the whole thing on fire, walking away from it while it exploded in slow motion?

Wow, I had never heard of this game until now. That's what I love about these high score comps. They bring out little gems for all to try.
