A strange and unique platform game by Sega. Guide Teddy Boy through an ever scrolling maze to defeat ninjas, snails, big mouthed hippos and other bizarre creatures.
You shoot your enemies with a gun that shrinks them - then you must collect your shrunken foes for bonus points.
If you don't collect them quick enough, they will fly down to the bottom of the screen and eat a portion of your time meter.
Occasionally you will get a chance to play a bonus game as Teddy Boy or Yohko Ishino. A target shooting game can be played as Teddy, and as Yohko, you can enjoy a short treasure hunting game.

After the first bonus game, you can choose which stage to tackle next, skipping stages nets you extra points. We go with stage 3 and no extra points.
Tip: In the shooting gallery bonus game, shoot the targets as fast as you can, an instant hit nets 2000 points, after that it's 1000 points, 800 points, and so on. The screen loops, so pressing left at the left side of the screen warps you to the right side.
I'll start with 210,920.

Hey, Quartet & Joust had a baby!
One of the funky card (not cart) games on the Sega Master System, though he didn't have the blues in that version.
Rather entertaining.

The looping screens and the jump mechanics remind me of Flicky, which Sega made a year before this.

In the same vein as flicky, and just as addictive! Great choice!

How the heck can you make 300k points at rd.8? You didn't skip to rd.7 after the bonus game, did you?

No I didn't. Is that possible? I've only played the treasure room bonus stage.
EDIT: After reading the above posts, I mis say that by the time you get to the second try of the treasure room bonus, you get a ton of points. Although I have never seen a level select screen.
I did verify that all of the stated dip switch settings we're correct before starting to play, though.

When selecting the shooting gallery as the bonus game, you get a level select screen afterwards. You can skip levels and get tons of points if you get through the next level without dying. You can only make about 40k in the gallery if you do it perfectly, so maybe the level skip kind of makes it up for getting more points in the treasure room.
You get 200k if you skip to rd.7, so by the time you get to rd.8, you have about 300k, that's why I thought that you went that way.

No sir. I get frustrated with the treasure room bonus stage for control reasons, but I think the potential for points is really high, as the amounts seem to climb exponentially.

Drat. That's exactly what I didn't want, the score being controlled by a fricking bonus stage.
-
I don't know that that's it. I only tried playing for one evening. There's one stage that racks up a ton of points. Where the layout is an S pattern, and the enemies all come on nice even groups.

That stage doesn't make the difference simply because I came through that stage too and still only have 295k at stage 11. It's true that you can make a ton of points by collecting as many shot enemies as possible in a row, but in that stage I do that, too. I'd say if you reach stage 11, you should have at least 350k points vs my 295k.
-
Ok, well we'll see in the next few days. I didn't get close to that score again after, but I was tired, so I don't know.

acvieluf, I think I have found the reason four your high score. It's level 7.
If you kill all the enemies outside the 'nose', but leave the nose intact, two waves of enemies will spawn inside it (judging from the dice, 15 enemies total). Now stand at one side, open fire, and collect all enemies at once for a massive points boost. I wasn't able to do it every time, but it works.
-
That helped this time, but I lost my last life on the beginning of that stage last time.
My last try tonight before giving up, finally pushed my score up.

PS - for anyone else reading, the treasure found on the bonus stages has a point value that increases by 500 with each one. So its 500, 1000, 1500, etc.
So by the second time you get to it, you're getting 6000, 6500, and so on. FRAKKING annoying controls though. If you don't get to the item you're searching in just the right spot from just the right angle, she bobs her head in a manner that makes you want to kill her.
But after enough tries, i can get to about 8000/treasure by the end of the first time through.
-
457,460. Damn. I think that was one level shy of the next bonus round, with each treasure worth more than 11k. I like the little graphical details, like the face she pulls after drinking the beer.

The treasure bonus round is far less fun than the shooting gallery...and I'm far worse at it...

Yep, the treasure round is by far the worst of all stages thanks to the controls. By the third time you get there, the time limit gets harder, too.

Last place checking in. I managed to squeeze one game in. 42,700
I remember this one being in all the Sega Master System advertisements but I never actually saw it for sale anywhere.
-
Hitting my ceiling. Still can't get far w/ the treasure hunt. I can't find more than 6-8 on the first bonus round, & maybe another 10 on the next round. The game says that there are 30 more hiding, but I'm pretty much all out of ideas on where to look.
I did get lucky with some groupings of shrunk guys, to get biggo bonuses, but I also made my share of goofs.
I think I'm done. I've cemented my position in 3rd...3rd, the position of revenge... >:D

These are the ones I remember from the top of my head. There is one treasure at the surfboard, I don't remember if it's on the side or on the front, though.
