Title: VGA to RGB converter, does this product work?
Post by: Battleship on August 18, 2017, 07:46:39 am
Looking at this: https://produto.mercadolivre.com.br/MLB-830668574-conversor-vga-pc-p-video-componente-tv-crt-_JM I want to use it for my cab. Read about it in the TV newbie walk through, Ive searched for something similar in the states with no luck. The guy that makes these wants $95 shipped. I'm sure this isn't the only solution available? I can build the VGA to SCART and use a CVS287 if need be. Thanks for any input...

just because the plugs are red, green, and blue doesn't mean it's RGB.

that is most definitely Ypbpr also known as "Component" video

great if your TV has analog "YpBpr" analog input. not so great if you have a similarly color schemed and named "YCbCr" also known as "digital component video." check your TV manual to find out if it's cross compatible or one or the other.

if you are looking for RGB ... VGA already is RGB. you just need to break out the signals from the cable.

inputs from computer and outputs with BNC.

Some devices support sync on green even through component cables.  PS2 is known for this as well.

Just because it's component cables, doesn't automatically conclude it's YUV.

RGsB as they call it.

We also know how rare that type of connection is.  You don't normally see it on anything other then a projector or something.

On the shmups forums, we've been going around this topic off and on because of the PS2 being capable of supporting it natively.

Heres the back of the TV from the manual, I thought it was RGB just by looking at colors on input. AFTER I put my glasses on I realized I was wrong...

One of my older video cards had a multi-out that could output YUV, but it was with a special adapter.  Check if you have something like that and you should be able to connect.
