Title: Win 7 computer with I-PAC 4 constantly makes USB connect and disconnect sounds
Post by: Pasqualz on August 14, 2017, 08:38:56 pm
Hi all,
I purchased an I-PAC 4 USB board to replace my 11 year old PS2 version. It works great, but windows 7 keeps playing the USB connect and disconnect sounds. This seems to happen more often on a game that requires fast and frequent key presses. (Track & Field especially.) strangely, the I-PAC 4 does not seem to actually disconnect from the computer, as we continue to play through the connect/disconnect sounds without issue. It's just a bit annoying. I finally went into the sounds control panel and changed the device connect and disconnect sounds to "none" and problem solved!! Of course I'm still very curious as to why my computer was making the sounds so often, even if it wasn't affecting performance. Anyone else have this issue with Their I-PAC 4 USB on Windows 7? Anyone know what's going on?
Thanks!
Pasqual

I'd dump that crap on ebay, and buy yourself a keywiz from groovygamegear.com.  Job done.

see if there is something in the power settings or in the USB in the "device manager"  akin to "allow windows to suspend this device to save power"

I have never really worked out what the agenda is, of one of the posters above who makes this type of post regularly.

But anyway, a USB bus reset and enumeration which happens when a device disconnects and reconnects takes around a second so you would notice this in play. The conclusion is that the device is not disconnecting so the sound is not being caused by the device.

One possibility is a historic device which was connected has some software still resident. There are quite a few generic causes of this issue thrown up by a Google search.

I have an agenda?  Yes my agenda is to have people buy Randy's products which are far superior, excellent value and work for many years without fault.  Also his customer service is second to none.  He provides true value to the BYOAC community.  Clients have thanked me for referring them to Randy's site for their arcade parts.  Now you know what my agenda is.

Happy now?

Someone let Ark out of his cage again!

But in defence of Andy/Ultimarc:
I have and use several of his products, have done for years without fault and find his customer service excellent.

Now why dont you actually try helping people in a positive way rather than being a troll.

I have said nothing negative but praised a vendor that goes out of his way to assist the BYOAC community.  I think it is important to recognize those who go above and beyond over the many years in this hobby.  I don't hear of any Keywiz products failing, it is always someone elses.  It is also important to advise people of superior products that are available, as there are so many cheap imitations.  It is what keeps this hobby real, and in perspective for so long.

If you think I am wrong stating that, well it is your opinion.   Let us agree to disagree.

To quote yourself from earlier:

"Dump that crap"

Thats is negative and unhelpful.

Randy sells good stuff and backs it up here in person on here no questions.

But so does Andy, He has also done much more for this community and hobby than your trolling ass ever has.

I find it rather pathetic and sad that you can seemingly get no enjoyment from life other than trying to put other people down and subtract from their enjoyment.

I know someone asked you this before but why do you even bother getting out of bed in the morning?

I'm temporarily locking this thread until everyone let's some steam out (not here in the forums).  A "time out" if you will.  This topic is getting side tracked from the OP's question on how he can correct the issue he was having.

If you guys want to argue, do it somewhere else.  And if you do, keep it civil.  No personal jabs here folks.
