I purchased a prebuilt arcade cabinet a year ago with limited research and I'm ready to update the internals. All the inputs are currently plugged into the motherboard via two sizable ribbon cables.
I've ordered updated PC parts but I'm not sure what wiring harness and hardware accessories I need to accommodate my existing button scheme. I'm looking to hook everything up to the new internal computer via USB cords. I've spent some time on www.ultimarc.com (http://www.ultimarc.com) but I'm not sure what I should be ordering and then the best place to learn about the wiring process. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I've got:
- 4 players
- 1 4-way only joystick (Red)
- 1 Credit button (Green)
- 4 separate start buttons.
- A On/Off Button (Black)
- 2 pinball buttons on the side
- One trackball
- One spinner
- No LEDs

I'm pleased with the ipac ultimate, but if you have no use for the LED drivers, you could probably get off with the ipac4. There's a lot going on there on that CP though, so if anything you might need two of them.

Thanks for the quick reply. Would the ipac4s work with the trackball and spinner or do they need special adapters/harnesses?

The I-Pac4 doesn't have trackball/spinner input pins so you'll also need an optical (mouse) encoder or two.

Two I-Pac2's will cost about the same as an I-Pac4 + one optical encoder.
