Instead of checking the box in Mala to have it start with windows, create a shortcut to mala and place it in the windows startup folder.
It will delay Mala starting.

I'm thinking maybe Mala is launching before some required background service needed to show the pics.
Maybe giving other things more time to start before Mala launches will fix it.

It's just something to try.  I don't know if it will help or not.
I had a problem with Mala launching before the sound card software was ready and this fixed that.

I gave your suggestion a try and still no luck the only way i can git the snaps to show up is by manually double clicking on mala to start it. tanks for the suggestion tho.

Are you using the last version of Mala? (1.082 I think...)
Have you the log enabled? Perhaps, you could see any error on it...

Greetings.

Hmm, well, MaLa can be pretty quirky at times. Sometimes you just need to poke at things to get them to work. Here's a few things to try:

First off, make sure all your snaps are held in a MaLa sub folder. e.g. C:\mala\images\snaps

The png file format can be quirky, too. I've had png files that display fine in Windows preview and Paint, but are screwed up when loaded into PhotoShop. Try converting a couple of images to another format, just to see if they display.

In Mala config (GUI->Options->Picture and Video), change the picture quality to "fast, low". Also try checking/unchecking the 'keep aspect ratio" box.

Try another layout to see if snaps show OK. If they do, you know MaLa has some problem with your layout. Post it here if you can, so we can test it.

See if you can find a codec pack online to install. Videos weren't working for me until I did this, despite them playing fine in Windows.

Not sure if you've solved this. I seem to remember having to change to JPEG for my snaps to get them all to show up consistently. Otherwise, it seemed like every other one would just show a white screen when I used png files.

Also, I think I had to save the tree snap jpegs in the same directory as the .mll file. For example, my Nintendo.mll file is in a directory. In that same directory is a Nintendo folder with the JPEG in it. I then had to copy and paste the Mala Menu_Nintendo.jpg in the same directory as the mll file. Not sure why it had to be this way, but that was the only way to get the tree snaps to show up.

Hope that helps, good luck!
