Title: Catver file for NES?
Post by: Metimbo on January 27, 2004, 04:21:34 pm
I have like 2700 NES Roms all named with long extensions, etc and I have all my NES Art named : alien3.bmp, archon.bmp, etc

I need to rename and clean out the Roms, then maybe HC's generic artwork renamer might pick out more than just 138 games.

Any suggestions on how to do this quickly?
Thanks in advance,
~Tim

I'd recommend using GoodNES to rename your entire NES rom set - u can use the "dirs" command to sort into country regions (ie. get rid of all the crappy hacks etc..).  Then grab the NES screens at the screenshotarchive (http://www.screenshotarchive.com) which are already named in goodtools format.  Point the artwork paths of the front end you are using to the screenshot directories and a way you go  ;D

That sounds easy enough.  Where can I find this GoodNES?  I did a search on Google, but I couldn't seem to find anything.
Thanks again,
~Tim

Search for GoodTools... and then the nes add-on.  There isn't such a thing a goodNes technically.

Yea, thanks, just found it on EasyEMU site (Which I HIGHLY recommend to the Newbs like me out there!!!)
The address is:
http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/ (http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/)

It has all types  of software info there for those who are interested.

I ran a scan first, then a Goodnes rename inplace, what else do I need to do?  Manually take out the dupes (only about 20 or so)?  What am I missing?

<EDIT> Ok, I went back and did a Goodnes rename dirs and it broke them all down into categories such as USA, Japan, Bad Roms, etc.  I am down to like 774 USA Roms now.  YAY!</EDIT>
