Title: Advice on a refit
Post by: cyberfez on June 01, 2017, 08:53:03 pm
I built a MAME upright cabinet back in 2006. Now over a decade later the computer died so i am refitting the cabinet with new guts but keeping the TV (Sony 27"). The TV iwas just connected to a TV out (rca connector).

I was donated a pc by a mate to replace what i have. It only has PCi, PCie & PCie16 slots in it. So my old AGP video card wont fit. So I am looking for a video card suggestion that is PCie/PCie16 that has TVout and is beefy enough to run other emulators as well like DAPHNE.

Any advice would be welcome.

Modern GPUs don't support the low res outputs anymore. If you are really persistent, there are some 2008/2009 vintage ones that still got the tv-out.

The best other option is to get a TV with component input and a hdmi-component converter. It will double the image quality and give you a chance to make a proper TV mount with bezel  ;)
