Title: Got a 3DO on the cheep, what to play
Post by: Locke141 on May 25, 2017, 06:46:32 am
SO I got an Japanese FZ-10 3DO. It's sitting at my parents house waiting for me to go back to the US this summer.

Like the sega CD the 3DO is DRM free and region free so ISO can jut be burnt to a CD and played. What Games should I try?

Here my list so fare.

DragonsLaie
Return Fire
Killing Time
Jurassic Park Interactive
Luciennes Quest

PS: I know the #DO was a boom and a lot of the games were not very good.

Killing Time on the 3DO is one of my all time favorite games.  Super creepy, unique feel for an FPS, lots of fun.

12 year old me wanted that Voyeur game so... freaking... bad....

So I'd start with the adult games.  I expect a detailed write up with pictures.

Did Sewer Shark appear on the 3DO?

I looked at the cost of a Creative Labs 3DO with my old AT PC and it is cheaper to get a commercial emulator for it.

Road Rash.  Great soundtrack of real music.

I miss my 3do. Holy crap was it expensive when it came out.

Need for Speed is a great one. Challenging, and the lack of music while driving is actually soothing.
Super Street Fighter Turbo is great with 6-button joystick.
Star Control 2 is the absolute best if you haven't already played it. There's an open source version for the pc called The Ur-Quan Masters that mimics the 3do version well.
Road Rash seconded.
Return Fire too, especially with a friend.
Crash n Burn, a pack in title, was a great deal of fun. I still play this one from time to time via emulation.
Twisted the Game Show is good for a short while. Quirky party type game.
Shockwave is a cool 1 player mission game.
Gex is a solid platformer.

I took a look around for you and could not find the 3DO version. the PC and CDI version is all over the place. You should just play it on the PC. I did grab "sex" just for the novelty of it will probably play it once with my brother for a life then throw it out.

Grabbed Road Rash

Popsicle, I'll start on your list.

Sewer Shark was Sega CD specific, I think.

I remember Sewer Shark being about a 15 minute game if you skip the cutscenes.  Youtube has borne this out.

It was originally planned for a VHS system that was canceled, so was night trap.

I ended up getting in the zone and went throw the whole list of the 3DO libarly and grabed every thing that looked remotely interesting. I think I ended up with 60'ish games. There is a JPN strip rock paper siezers FMV game for all our inner 12 year olds.

It's related to why both games were short :dunno

Games I played the most on here were
Road Rash
Family Feud
Way Of The Warrior
Twisted: The Game Show
Street Fighter II Turbo.

The only one of these that I really would want to play now a days would be Twisted.   Loved that game.
The others I would only want to watch for a couple minutes on youtube to get my fix.

I haven't getting to playing the 3do yet but was very happy to see it came with a Street fighter game, second remote, and a number pad accessory. I'll get to hiking it all up tomorrow.
