I love groovymame and won't change from it for my machine. I am just wondering if there is any option or way to combine it with something to allow for online play (third strike and super turbo, mainly, is what I'm interested in.) just not finding the time to have local people come over and play the blast city much. Has anyone done this or is it even possible? I remember there were some online enabled mame builds years ago when I looked into it but I didn't get far with it.

I use fightcade it's crt friendly and easy to set up. It uses final burn alpha so it's cps1 2 and 3 and Roger games only.

Thanks. I'll look into it. Does it work at native resolution?

Yes, but only with the DirectX9 renderer, which won't render the in-game chat. That being said, it's still nice to play 3rd Strike at native res on a CRT with some pretty amazing netcode.

M_W, did you have any issue with framey/choppy animation in fullscreen mode?
I haven't tried fightcade on my cabinet but tried it out on my (lcd) pc. In windowed mode I don't get this issue, in fullscreen it's pretty obvious/obnoxious, it's like seeing a doubled frame from a few frames ago for a few ms while you play. Otherwise fightcade works pretty awesomely windowed, very impressive, I was just afraid of putting it on the crt cab if I couldn't get a 'true' fullscreen mode going. May have to try the dx9 renderer again.
There is definitely more input lag than Groovymame (even in offline 1p play) but it's still playable...just for local 2p I'd stick to Groovymame all the way.
