Title: Spinner AND PC wheel
Post by: raph on May 17, 2017, 09:44:35 pm
I've already got two spinners in my cab  for stuff like two player Warlords. I also have a working PC wheel (an old Logitech) that can handle 270 degree games and has pedals.

This may be a silly question, but... What is the correct way to get these configured in MAME so they can co-exist? Set spinner games to use Dial and 270 games to use Paddle?

The spinners show up as mouse X-axis and Y-axis.

The wheel shows up as a gamepad analog axis.

If MAME sees both mouse and analog control inputs, games like Warlords will accept input from both by default.

Go into the "Input (this Game)" menu and re-map the input(s) to whichever control you want to use in that game and they won't interfere with each other.   ;D

While you are dong that, be sure to set the "INC" and "DEC" inputs to "None". (Enter then ESC)

Be aware that on just about every 360 degree wheel game you will have to adjust the sensitivity.  There's really no way to do this without going into each game and making the adjustment.

Yeah, been running into that already. I am using a table of tooth count and counts per rev which I got from archive.org's version of the wiki, but it has a lot of holes. If there's a better repo of that info, I'd love a pointer to it.

The newwiki page wasn't captured, but here's the page from the old wiki.

cool havnt seen that before
so if i understand right,  it looks like arkanoid, when using the usual spinner for that game (taito spinner), the bat should move across the entire screen (from one edge to the other side) if the spinner is turned about a third of one complete turn?

That sounds about right to me.  I made this video a while back dealing with the sensitivity settings and I do use Arkanoid as one of the examples.  I have the turn counts in the descriptions as well and I've add a few that aren't on the wiki. Not sure if it's all correct. Last time I played Super Sprint it felt way off.
