High Score Competition Rules and Scoreboard (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,143138.0.html)
The player is armed with a kodachi shortsword and an unlimited amount of shuriken. Main gameplay revolves around killing enemy ninja (blue and red) and enemy fire-breathing monks.
Rom : lkage
8-way Joystick
2 buttons : Sword and Shuriken
Default settings
Lives: 3
Difficulty: Normal
Score runs end 5/23/2017 at 12:00 A.M.
The game loops so there is possibility of some great scores, happy ninja killing!
Interesting fact: Taito's LD game Ninja Hayate's plot and characters look remarkably similar to The Legend of Kage, but despite sharing the same publisher, the games are not technically part of the same series.

I'll get this started. Not sure if this is a good score or not.

Ummm, not good. More like colossal, as far as I'm concerned. 115,500 here.
Not sure how to play--just keep jumping around throwing stars all over & keep swinging the sword to deflect throwing stars?
I got to the short building after the tall ascent, & that blew my strategy of non-stop jumping--stupid short ceiling--kept bumping my head. Ow.

I had to change my dip switch settings to normal before I could even get above 100k. I didn't find a strategy other than do a two step forward one back and avoid jumping, and not rush. The game is real short and the boss that takes the princess can be quickly run down.

This game is awesome at making you feel like your flying through the air like a ninja, but it's hard to understand what you're doing.

It's quite possible that I'm lame, but please check your difficulty levels.
My DIP switches were set to a default of Very Easy. Normal was 2 clicks up for me.
Note that I'm using antiquated 115u2--all you guys are probably on newer revs...
Thanks,

Same deal happened to me. It made the game more playable after changing it to normal.

That's what I thought you said, Grizzly, but it seemed backwards that you're saying that the game is more playable on Normal difficulty than on Very Easy difficulty...
As for strategy, I get hit less when I'm jumping around like a loon--when I sit still & stay in control, I'm an easy target...

I admit it seems odd but that's my opinion. Sometimes you need just enough stimulus to get the desired reaction lol. The dagger blade works well against all weapons but the fireballs. From what I could tell you can fire a shuriken and deflect pretty much at the same time making you invincible Unless!!!... you jump. Just my experience and my observation.
Good luck!

477,500. I wonder why anyone would want to play this. Baffling.

181,000.
I think I got to the boss. Another flamey guy who doesn't die after 1 hit?
How many hits does it take?
I tried playing restrained, but it was a failure. Hopping around non-stop is still my best technique, & it's also just wicked fun & stylish.

I really like this game, but unfortunately, my mame cab won't be setup in the new house in time to play in this round. I am not sure it was ever released as a dedicated cabinet, but if it was, I would definitely buy one if I saw one.

124,500
This game is the worst.

Jason, your turn.

Oh crud, do I have to pick?
OK, I have a few on my list. Legend of Kage was one of them, because I like it, so, based on the general reception of LoK, I'm sure you'll all adore what I pick next...
