Title: Problem with Older Ultrastick 360
Post by: DrLarryE on May 09, 2017, 06:36:36 am
"I have 2 older UltraSticks.  (I might’ve bought them in the first few months you carried them.)   The one I use the most has developed a quirk….it will act as if I flicked it to the right.  I first noticed it when I was programming inputs for MAME games, but I can watch it happen when I open the Ultramap program and watch the Joystick box to the right of the map.

My question is simple.  Is there something that you know I can do to fix it or is it time for a new one?"

I sent the above message to Andy at Ultimarc almost a week ago with no reply.  Has anybody had an issue like this?

Did you check the magnet at the bottom? It may be off-center...

I had the same problem. Magnet is simply positioned incorrectly or it's moving during play. Just use some glue to stick magnet to shaft.

I am going to assume the problem is in the circuit board.....I switched the boards and the problem stayed with the board, not with the rest of the controller (ie magnet)  The problem also happens when the circuit board is detached from the controller and the USB plugged in.

Also, does anybody know the state of Ultimarc?  You used to be able to get a question answered by email if you wanted to buy something.

Well I've been in contact with Andy on a series of questions over the last month or two and he has been extremely responsive and helpful.  Maybe you just caught him at a bad time or your question didn't supply enough information.  Just a guess, of course.
