Hi, i acquired a Happ trackball which i am going to use in an enclosure.
Only thing is i have no idea how to connect this thing up! as there are no instructions.
There are two photos, which i took in a hurry so it doesnt show the green pcb boards on the sides.
I think its just a case of connecting to usb on the pc or pi or whatever, so the ps2 plug will be not used at the same time ?
Looking on the happ site i have seen a similar one but mine looks to have more connectors, and where does the ground go as its not going in a full size cab, just a seperate enclosure.

Based on the harness with the Quick Disconnects (QDs), I'm guessing that one of the green PCB boards is like the one in this post (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,153999.msg1614111.html#msg1614111), right?
1. Connect the USB and ignore the PS/2 plug.
2. Connect the green wire to ground to drain off any static charge generated by the trackball.
The two easist places to do that are either the outer shielding of the USB or the daisy-chain ground of the mouse button harness. (black wire, white QDs, with the other end connected to J2 pin "G")

Yes the pcb board is like in the post you mentioned.
Green ground wire has like a metal loop at the end.
When you say 'attaching to the outer shielding of the usb' do you mean removing some of the plastic covering of the cable and taping the ground to the revealed shielding.
Or am i being an idiot :lol

i have never seen a green board in that style trackball
they were all red..atleast in mine they are

If you use a Neutrik USB feedthru, it's easier to use one of these screws.

The new green board (55-0301-00 (https://na.suzohapp.com/products/trackballs/55-0301-00)) has the USB encoder built-in and a satellite optical board (55-0302-00 (https://na.suzohapp.com/products/trackballs/55-0302-00)) = USB or PS/2 mouse outputs.

The red boards (A052-1011-00 (https://na.suzohapp.com/products/trackballs/A052-1011-00)) don't have an encoder built-in = quadrature waveform outputs.

The old green boards (A052-1010-00) were like the red boards, but lower quality.

Just wanted to say thanks for the advice. I picked up one of those usb feed throughs, just the job !
