Title: ON Off Shim for pi

This looks like it might be a nice way to turn on and off a pi using a switch

Shame it needs to be soldered to the GP10s though, PnP would be better

I'm guessing that was done because many people won't want to mount it above the GPIO pins. From the description, it only appears to use a single pin. So it's a bit of a waste to use up another 11 pins just for mounting purposes.

Anyway, it's a nice idea, and long overdue. I can't understand why the RPi designers have never included on on/off switch.

Its back in stock and I've just ordered one.

Might need to buy a new soldering iron as my old one is pretty rubbish.

I ordered a couple to try out. I'll post my results when I've finished installing.

But yeah, why this wasn't built into the Pi is beyond me.

If you're after an easy build option for a pi then the picade is pretty handy. Has the powe switch, joystick controls and an amp built in for £15.

Picked one up a while ago - just need some time to get my head around the os and install attract mode.

eta prime has a solution for retropie thar only requires a momentary switch. theres even a solution that uses the audio jack to free up the gpio pins
