I was able to pick up an intel NUC Skull Canyon for free. So nice upgrade from the raspberry Pi 3 I was going to use. http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/nuc/nuc-kit-nuc6i7kyk-features-configurations.html (http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/nuc/nuc-kit-nuc6i7kyk-features-configurations.html)
This seems to open a lot of new opportunities for me, hyperspin, light guns, etc,
Has anyone used this? It's seems like a bit of overkill, but hey its free. Any thoughts on what this upgrade will open up for me?

If I had that I would max the memory and put in a fast SSD and make it a bare metal Hypervisor. I'm sure you could throw anything at that NUC and it will keep on chugging away.
Yes it is overkill. No reason why you could not, and no reason why you would, as a free PC these days can run Hyperspin.
Read the forums and start asking questions and get it all working and have fun.
Congrats for snagging one of those units, and good luck with your build.

interesting. never got into hypervisor options before. Any links you would recommend on how to setup. I'm technical, just never looked into this.

Just picked up a free Intel 600P 1TB SSD for this beast!

LOL! Where can I get free stuff like that?
-
I'm in the electronic components industry.

I have an emulation machine based on Intel NUC (i7) + ubuntu + RetroArch and I'm in love with it.
-
That still doesn't explain how you get hundreds of dollars worth of stuff for free. I see prison in your future. :police:

Most manufacturers have a sample programs were they give products away for free to companies for design to help seed demand in the market. I can get access to these. Can't get everything, i.e. right now it would be tough for me to sample memory and I can't sample a monitor.

Final piece of computer hardware came in. Can't wait to see how fast this arcade gets now.

So it's a gaming laptop without the screen?
Does it run Gauntlet Legends 100%?
