Title: Anyone interested in a FAQ on installing and making a Card scanner with credits?
Post by: Negativecreep0 on January 26, 2004, 04:18:35 pm
I am doing this project for one of my classes in school basically what it will be is I'm going to make a card scanner that scans a card which will have a certain number of credits on it and so you can use that for mame credits, as long as you install it in your cab. It would be good for all you cheapos out there who charge their friends to play games on your cabinet or if you wanna leave your cabinet somewhere where people can play after prepaying for a card charged with a certain number of credits. Just want to know if anyone has already seen a faq like this before or would be interested in a FAQ?

I will never have a use for that.

Sounds cool as hell though, so show me how!

If you don't charge people to play, how do you pay for your upgrades?

Not sure if it helps, but they used to have machines with a card-reader as you describe at Dave & Busters (the only one in the UK).  You had to top up your credit at a counter...

Good luck with the project
