Hi everyone! I'm contemplating between building my own bartop arcade or buying the widescreen kit from HaRuMaN. I was wondering if the wrist support would be sufficient on any bartop arcade in general. I looked at hundreds of different bartop arcades but they all seem to share very similar design, especially the control panel and ~4inch high front panel with joysticks and buttons really close to the edge. I have a question for all users how comfortable is it to use it for longer gaming sessions? Would it be better to move the buttons for coins or 1-2players to the actual control panel and make it deeper, while lowering the front to as low as 1-2 inches?

Never had much support at the arcades and that was never an issue.
Issue I have with my bartop is it being too low causing my hands to uncomfortably bend while standing. Sitting is fine.

Here's the draft of what I can see as having the better wrist support.

Do I make things more complicated and should just go with the "common" design?

I noticed that with my bartop as well after about 20 mins of play. So my local shop is making me a new CP that is deeper (wider) by 2" so my wrists can rest on it. Pics coming in the next 2 days.

Looks amazing, equilizer! Did you bottom mount your joysticks without routering the recess? As I wasn't going to use the router, I ordered a pair of shaft extension rods. What's the model of your trackball? It's not recessed either, is it? Is it a volume knob next to your ESC key?
-
yes im using sanwa sticks and buttons. The sticks are bottom mounted using CNC and the trackball is also recessed with 2 bolts holding it in. You can use the extensions as well to save the hastle of using a router. That is a spinTrac spinner. I control my volume using an Ipac2 and the Shift keys.

Yeah, I goofed on my TMNT panel and wish I had moved the controls two inches up. No sense in not being comfortable if you're building it yourself.
