Title: MAME front end that follows ROM directory structure?
Post by: Calab on March 16, 2017, 12:10:06 am
Does anyone know of a MAME frontend that only displays ROMs that exist, and that will follow the directory structure of the ROMs directory?

My ROMs are broken into folders somewhat like this:

.\ROMS
.\ROMS\PCs
.\ROMS\PCs\C64
.\ROMS\PCs\Coco
.\ROMS\Arcade
.\ROMS\Atari 2600
.\ROMS\Nintendo

...and I'd like the front end to browse the ROMs keeping them in this tree. So when I start the front end I would see:

[..]
[PCs]
[Arcade]
[Atari 2600]
[Nintendo]

It would be a bonus if the front end could recognize other emulators files and start an emulator other than MAME for them.

The front end built into MAME v0.178b is definitely not friendly.

Thanks!

Download lakka and it might be what you are looking for. You can even switch the menu driver to rgui for a more basic text approach. Works well at 240p on crt composite out.
