There's this awesome book that is literally a tutorial on building a cabinet. It's called "Project Arcade" You might have heard of it, it's written by the guy who owns this board.

The OND build is a solid one. I have seen a few in the wild, and they all look very nice.
For my own build, I just looked at lots of photos. Every one was built a little different. Companies changed how they did things as they went along sometimes. The reality is that its a big box with a computer and buttons... there are ways that work and ways that don't but I wouldn't say there is a right or wrong way to build an arcade cabinet. Research is your friend. I wanted a specific type of cab, with very little info out there and no real world examples for me to measure, so I had to make a compiled plan out of 3 others in order to get what I want. Figure out exactly what you want, it may make your search a bit more focused. There may be detailed build threads of something exactly along your lines that you want to build. Then just follow the steps.
Following a guide, such as the aforementioned book, is going to be the quickest method - not as stressful as trying to figure it out on your own.
