I just got my brand new Logitech G920 steering wheel and have been eager to try it out on my favorite games, Cruisin World and Cruisin USA.
While I was saving up for the wheel I read the sticky "Beginners start here" about 10 times so I would be prepared and ready to go.
I have a few problems... I'm using Mame 0182 and just cannot get the steering wheel dialed in right. I remember when I first loaded the Cruisin games they had me "calibrate" (before I had a wheel) so I just entered through the calibration process and am wondering if that is it.
I made the two changes to my mame.ini file as stated in the sticky.
I do NOT see a sensitivity setting for the wheel in Mame, though. I see a sensitivity setting for the paddles, but not for the wheel. It isn't under analog controls, controls this machine or controls general.
Additionally, in Cruisin USA, no matter how hard I press the accelerator, it only registers about 75% in the game. Cruisin World doesn't seem to have this problem.
I would greatly appreciate any help you can offer. This is my first post here! :)

When I hit F2 it doesn't do anything. Where is the NVRAM file located? I use roms that are zipped and there are only four files in the zip file. Each ends with U21, 22, 23, and 24 (or something like that). Is it one of those?
If not, where would I find it?

I found the nvram folder/file and deleted it then recalibrated.
Unfortunately, the problem remains. There is too much dead zone in the wheel. I have to turn it too much to do anything and then as soon as it does something, it does too much, if that makes sense. I'm fishtailing all over the place.
The problem with the pedal remains. However, if I press the clutch, it acts like the gas pedal and also allows me to go as fast as possible. The actual gas pedal only goes up to about 75%, though.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

delete your cruisn usa NVRAM or hit F2 to go into the operator menu. Then re-calibrate the pedals and wheels. There is no sensitivity in MAME, you set that in windows with the wheel's software (if it supports it) then calibrate in game
Did they get rid of the sensitivity settings under analog controls?!
I haven't used any version newer than v.170 and I'm not even sure that I messed with any driving games on that version.

Oh...and paddle is the same as wheel. A potentiometer is a potentiometer.

Okay, I'll try setting it for paddle. That is what got me confused. I thought it was referring to a different type of controller.
If you have any suggestions on what I can do to get the wheel to work on SF Rush it would be much appreciated.

Now I have a new problem. :(
When I press tab to go to the menu to make changes in Mame, it starts scrolling fast and endlessly. There's nothing I can do to stop it.
What would cause that? I can't make a selection because it just keeps scrolling the menu endlessly.

You probably have an analog pedal on your Z-axis.
Tried using just the SW yoke with the 4-axis firmware and noticed an obvious (in retrospect) but highly problematic side effect with the unused "Z-" and "Z Ro-" axes -- no wiper wire connected to the input = no voltage applied = they aren't centered.
The un-centered Z-axis (a.k.a. mouse scroll wheel) causes the MAMEUIFX menu (and probably many others) to constantly scroll. :angry: :dizzy: :lol
Anyone using an analog pedal, Warlords dials, Lunar Lander thruster, etc. with the Z-axis will have problems for the same reason.
Try fully pressing each pedal to see if it reverses the scrolling.
If it does, hold that pedal about half-way down and the scrolling should stop or at least slow.

I don't remember MAME doing it, but the clutch pedal will do that in some emulators/games unless it is held exactly halfway down.
Globally change the mappings for menu navigation in MAME (UI UP and UI DOWN maybe. it's been a long time)

What is paddle digital speed and paddle autocenter speed? The paddle sensitivity doesn't seem to do anything. I turned it all the way up to 255 and it just doesn't seem to have any effect. If I could only get the wheel dialed in, I'd be in business (with this game, at least.)

That is covered in the stickied Noob "read this first" thread.
Those settings are for when using digital controls like keyboard keys or pushbuttons.
They have no effect on an analog controller like a steering wheel.
The sensitivity setting should make a big difference as well.
What do you have your default wheel rotation set to?
Most of these games were 270 degrees.
Trying to play them with the wheel set to 900 degrees doesn't work very well.

I read the sticky at least 10 times but must've missed that about the sensitivity for those other two things. Sorry about that.
Anyway, the paddle sensitivity does nothing that I can notice.
My wheel is set to 180.
Any other suggestions?

check the deadzone setting in the logitech software?

I'm using the G920 so it has different software from the G27. I can't find a "deadzone" setting anywhere in the software.
Do you know where I might look? I just can't find it.

Have you tried both combined pedals and split pedals in the Logitech profiler?
