Hi all!
First post here! Hope you're all well! Just brought my first cab in a few years and having issues.
It's a Sega Naomi Universal Cab - Monitor is Nanao, supposedly tri-sync chassis. Removed Naomi system.
I purchased a Pandoras Box knockoff (Heroes of the storm 2) output is both JAMMA and VGA.
When I connect the board to VGA cable for the monitor, all I get is static (see image)
I can connect my laptop to VGA cable and get picture (see image)
Would anybody know what this issue would be? I do not have any other JAMMA boards to test with.
Would one of those VGA video converters help? This is driving me crazy, any help would be very much appreciated :)
Thanking you :)

naomi cabs with nanao used ms2932 and ms2934 chassis, both are fixed 31khz
the tri sync nanao are ms2930,2931 and 2933
how does the multigame know what res to output,is it dil switches?
-
try a different vga cable
-
So the chassis has no place to connect the rgb from Jamma harness (weird I know) - only vga is connected.
I will grab a new vga cable today and see if this helps
Thanks for your quick replies! Much appreciated
Any other issues you think could be causing? Do you thing one of those cga > vga or vga > cga converter boards / scalers may help?
Thanks

could be an odd sync signal from the game board or its not actually outputting 31khz
-
If this was the case, what could be used to scale the signal down to 31 /25 or even 15khz using the vga cable?
-
something like a gbs8200
-
Thanks I just ordered one - annoying how the chassis doesn't take rgb connection from the Jamma board !
So here's hoping that the vga in to vga out works!
In the meantime should I get a pc and test with Mame?
-
yes but do not output more than 31khz to these monitors as it can short the HOT
-
connected a laptop running 640 x 480 - and with some great help form the team at aussie arcade it works :) see pic
assuming that the Pandoras Box 4 gameboard puts out possibly 800 x 600 VGA?
Maybe I'll use that board for another project - now to find a decent desktop with XP for MAME :) Ordered an IPAC 2 this morning!
