Can anyone ID this joy stick? I'm trying to figure out if I can get a restrictor plate to make these into 4 way or if I just need to pick up another stick? There appears to be a plate on them now? I purchased these back in 2012 from Paradise .. .and they were called RGB JLF's.

I believe thats a RGB JLF........
Jk I have no idea, but the clear base piece is the restrictor plate. Just pop that off the four prongs, turn it 90 degrees and put it back on. Instant 4-way.

Removing the plate was a pain in the BUT -- broke one of my microswitches. Turned it 90 degrees ... stick still feels like it has 360% motion so not sure?

Is the center hole a square, diamond or a octagon? If you rotated it so it looks like a diamond then it should be restricting the move in the diagonals.
The restrictor plates can be a pain. If its something you plan on changing often then you may want to look into a automatic switching setup like the Servo Stick (https://www.ultimarc.com/servostik.html) or maybe a Mag Stick or Mag Stick Plus (http://www.ultimarc.com/controls.html) These can be changed from 4-8 with a flip of a switch. the Mag Stick Plus can be changed simply by pulling up on the control stick and twisting it. be warned that the throws on the Mag stick are very short.
The servo stick is cool because you can program it to switch automatically based on what game you are playing.
There might be other options but those are the two that I have personally used.

You rotated the whole thing 90 degrees or just the center?
If it's a genuine JLF, once the restrictor plate is removed the center can be pressed down and rotated to 4-way, but the center rotates more like 45 degrees.

There is no insert in the plate .. rotating it does not switch it from 8/4 vise versa. Was looking for an easy way to restrict it but will likely pick up a 4 way to replace it with.
