Title: Dark Dull Colors on my k7000
Post by: Zuul86 on January 27, 2017, 08:45:55 am
I recently re-caped, and replaced the flyback on my WG k7000.  The colors are still very dark and dull.  I can't turn up the brightness higher or the picture starts becoming grey and white.  I'm not sure what to do next.  See videos and pictures below.  Any suggestions?

Yeah I've been doing that.  I turned up the brightness on the flyback has high as I could without the raster lines showing.  I also have been playing with brightness and contrast on the breakout board but I'm not happy with how it looks.  I doesn't look as good as other CRTs of the same era.

That is a nice doc on monitor calibration.  Unfortunately I'm still not able to make the colors brighten up.

Yeah that's probably my next option.  I'll have to find someone who does that in Milwaukee.

So I bought a tube rejuvinator but I'm not sure if it's going to work.  It's a B & K Model 400 Cathode Rejuvenator Tester.  I have a Zenith  g-a63adg25x tube.  I'm not sure what the tube type is to setup the tester.  Advice?

almost all color tubes are 6.3 volts on the heater and a 50 volt grid voltage. that thing you got there is a real oldie made for b/w tubes.

it might still work, but you'd have to break out the cable and hook it up manually and do each gun separately.

I do get green.  When I run the screen test on MK II I see red, blue, and green.  Whites are very grey, and the colors dull.

That model is 50 years old! Belongs in a museum.

The oldest B & K rejuvenator model still worth a darn is the 467. If you can find an updated model 466, that will work too.

New development!  I didn't look closely enough when I got this cabinet.  The the wire plug with the ground and composite sync was shifted over by one.  So the ground was hooked up to nothing, and the sync was hooked up to ground. The picture is now bright with no interference.
