I finished my first cabinet, I've been lurking on this forum for a month or so and wanted to say thanks for all the data.
My intent was to have a cabinet that looked like furniture so my wife would let me keep it out in our family room. It's Lusid's plan shortened up a bit with Maple/Birch ply.
PC: P3/1ghz
Monitor: Toshiba 27A33 (27")
Bezel: Smoked Safety glass (I used black hammered spray paint to to create an exterior bezel on the outside of the glass)
It took me 4 weeks to build approximately 40-50 hours (weeknights and a few weekends).
Take care,
Tenka

Very cool! The finished wood look is classy looking and I can see how it would sit better with the wife if she isn't into games... :) Great stuff!
-
what, no marquee/coin slots?
but boy do i love that wood. nice work
-
You could do an engraved wood marquee! That would be a nice touch... :)
-
Nice work! You pulled it off the wood really nicely.
I considered wood also for a while but I (somehow) managed to convice my wife that it could still be tasteful if done in Formica as long as it didn't have gaudy side-art etc.
(Those with side-art, don't get me wrong - the gaudier the better as far as cabs go IMHO!!)

Two suggestions for future photo taking: use a flash, and adequete lighting. I can't see anything except the CP (which looks really snazzy, BTW). I would love to see better pics of the cab.

Looks great, nice wood finish

Played with the image a bit in Paint Shop. Here's an image you can see the cabinet. Very nice!

Oh wow, that does look nice!

If you do decide to put a coin door on it, don't put an over/under on it! Those things are just plain ugly. Make it a Williams style.

Thank you all for the kind feedback!
Sorry for the delayed response I had to run out of town for a few days.
I will take some pictures tomorrow in the daylight - I do admit those pics are terrible. =)
I didn't put a marquee or coin door because the wife was shooting for furniture - BUT given the popularity of the machine over the past few days (with friends and family) I think I see some modifications in the near future!
