Title: Aliens arcade machine
Post by: Haloman800 on December 21, 2016, 12:29:17 am
I'm looking at purchasing an aliens arcade machine (pictured below) does anyone have an idea if I can put a jamma board (60 in 1, etc) in this?

I had one of those.

Of course you can, but why would you? The monitor is horizontal and it's setup for 2 player controls.

If I can get it to work, I won't do this. But I have a suspicion that the board is fried.

If that's the case, do you recommend any horizontal multi-game jamma boards?

Yeah - to get it up and running quickly, one of those Pandora Box's should do the trick.

Sweet. I'll keep that in mind.

Is there anything I should look out for when I'm looking at this cab? I haven't seen in person yet

Edit: here's a photo. He said someone "snipped" the wires from the coin door. For $175 is it a good deal?

It's solid... super heavy. While the top houses a 19" monitor the base is massive. I used the base in front of a 27" or 32" cabinet. In my profile, you'll see the showcase cabinet build I did with this.

The wood seems to swell easily. The metal grate is pretty cool. Hopefully it's in good shape, I like that location for the speakers.

Overall, I love the cabinet. It's got a unique design, but from a pure usability stand point, I'd prefer a larger monitor. This guy did a decent build: http://walyou.com/mame-arcade-cabinet/lowerhell-mame-custom-arcade-cabinet-by-matthew-apps/  (http://walyou.com/mame-arcade-cabinet/lowerhell-mame-custom-arcade-cabinet-by-matthew-apps/)

I appreciate the help. There was a lot of damage/broken parts, so I ended up not getting it.

Your future self is thanking you right now.

Just my opinion but that machine looked like a bag of hurt the second I seen it.

Should have paid you $50 to haul it off.

I'm already thanking myself. Now I know why he didn't post more photos.

By the look on his face, he probably would have went for that.

I dodged a bullet

Pretty sure it's a Xenophobe cabinet converted to Aliens.

Some guy tried to sell me one of those when I was looking for my first MAME cab. I passed as well.
