Title: Servo-Stik or U360 for Player 1 Joystick
Post by: nipsmg on December 12, 2016, 07:35:06 am
I've currently have a 2p control panel with 2x happ 8-ways with bat-top joysticks.  Every time someone gets interested in the machine they inevitably want to play pacman or donkey kong, and get quickly frustrated and give up because they keep hitting diagonals and not moving where they want.

I'm looking for opinions on what I should replace the 1p joystick with to enable a better experience for 4 player games.  I like the idea of the U360 becuase it can be used for things like sinistar / pigskin footbrawl, etc that require 49 way joysticks.  Most people who want to play aren't championship/level players, they just want a good experience.  Does the physical restriction matter THAT much?

If I do go with a U360, should I get the stiffer spring? I've heard the original spring is too loose.

U360. Octagonal restrictor. Stiff spring. Lube the pivot.

I assume the octagonal restrictor keep me from registering movement for 49 way games?

Just my preference.

The U360 can scale the range of motion to fit inside the area of any restriction. How well it works in practice I don't know. I suggest buying one, and a Servo-stik, and then re-selling the one you don't like.
