Hello,
Could really use your help, I'm a beginner in this hobby and I have a 60 in 1 jamma board hooked up to a 21 inch viewsonic flat screen monitor. Everything worked fine until the video/picture stopped. But the games work as there is sound and you can hear the game playing, but no picture. I tested the monitor by hooking it up to a laptop, and it works fine, there is picture when hooked to my laptop. So the monitor is ok.
So I thought it might be the board, so I bought a new Jamma board and swapped it out, unfortunately I'm having the same problem even with the new board, sound but no picture. So I'm wondering if the problem is in the wiring harness, I haven't replaced that yet.
Any help on how to solve this? Thanks
David

IIRC there's a dip switch setting that changes the video output from CGA to VGA.

You remember correctly - From the Manual : ( so check the position of dip switch 3 pin 2 and make sure it is set for VGA )

Thank you, tried that and still not working. The weird thing is I just hooked up the jamma board to a totally different monitor, a 22 inch one in the office and it works, so it's not the board or the harness. Its the 20 inch monitor in the arcade frame where the problem is. Easiest thing is to just buy a new 20 inch monitor as thats the only size that will fit. But i'd like to know why its not working on the jamma board, but works when hooked to a laptop, so I don't fry a brand new monitor and run into same problem. Any suggestions of what it might be or how to salvage the current 20 inch monitor and get it to work with the jamma board? thanks

what is the issue with the monitor? does it power on? does it show no signal? is it showing powered on (led is on) but no picture? is the LED power indicator flashing?

You can never tell with those boards. It's probably a sync issue.

LED power indicator is flashing on Jamma board, monitor works when plugged into a laptop, doesn't work when plugged into board, powers on ok when plugged into laptop, no video when on jamma board
-
it is easy
u are missing a sync pin
it is either d0 or d1
the monitor in question needs both or the other 1
research vga>jamma converters or jamma > vga converters
u will soon learn some monitors require both d0/d1 lines to be active
u just proved it yourself
>jamma > 22" works fine
>lappie > 20" works fine
jamma to 20" dose not work (missing d0/d1) so it will not come out of sleep
do a spec on the 20" (15pin plug) u will see it wants them all

Just because everyone builds aircraft carriers, doesn't make this a boat, Gilligan.

a monitor connected to a 60 in 1 board through the DB15 cable should work. by your mention of...
Everything worked fine until the video/picture stopped.
so this board did work... and then it didn't... me thinks try a different VGA cable maybe there is a sketchy connection somewhere in it.
