Title: Replace monitor for Sega Model 2 Arcade with TV (scart)
Post by: Kenzeiarcade on November 22, 2016, 01:17:55 pm
Hi,

I am looking for something that can help me to replace my monitor (that is broke) to a CRT TV (Scart, S-Video or RCA) or if that isnt possible to VGA (Flat screen).

What I have is a Virtua Figter 2 Cabinet (Sega Model 2) with a broken monitor.

Is there a converter that can do that. Can you take the signal without converting and get it to work on a "fat" TV?

The board is as I understood sending a signal in rgb 24hz

Best regards and thanks in advance

Ken

The Sega model 2 outputs 496×384 with a horizontal frequency of 24kHz. So it wouldn't work on an ordinary CRT tv with Scart, since they operate with a horizontal frerquency of 15,7 Khz.
You could use an upscaler http://www.smallcab.net/video-converter-p-41.html?language=en (http://www.smallcab.net/video-converter-p-41.html?language=en) and connect it to a vga monitor or LCD/LED screen. You will loose the authentic look of a true arcade crt though.

I have not heard of a 24khz to 15khz downscaler.
