Title: Undetected Montior: Wells-Gardner K7000 - J-PAC - Radeon 4670 - Arch Linux
Post by: OverRide on November 14, 2016, 10:11:49 am
Hello,

My problem is before Groovymame even starts but this seems like the most fitting place to post my problem. Please move else where if not.

As the topic states, I am running the above setup for Video. When I attempt to launch X in this configuration, X quits when it cannot find a connected monitor.
If I connect an LCD screen, start X, then reconnect back to the J-PAC with the K7000, things work fine.

Some solutions I am considering and would like some possible conformation on:

1. Circumvent the J-PAC? Go with the K7000 straight into VGA card(Haven't tried this easy test. Need to build a VGA breakout cable first).

2. Add 75ohm resistor to RGB leads (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=141999.0)? Looks like this is the solution I need, but would like to see if I can avoid it with another work around. It also causes some darkening of the video?

3. EDID dongle? Will this trick X into thinking a monitor is connected? Or only provide EDID info?

4. Use Windows? Will I have the same results with Groovymame on a Windows machine setup?

5. Is there some option I am missing which tells X to ignore non connected VGA port and start anyways?

6. Found this EDID emulator as well? (http://connectpro.com/video-solutions/ddc-emulators/vga-emulator/)
Thank you!

I ended up ordering the EDID emulator - Solves the problem.
