Title: What's everyone do about Steam game controls?
Post by: Guywiththegun on November 08, 2016, 10:59:49 am
What's the best way to get Steam games working with arcade controls, without using the mouse or keyboard? I'm referring to games with certain inputs that (for God knows what reason) are not configurable, like "Start" in Ultra Street Fighter 4. Autohotkey? Does this result in input lag or some other side effect?

I hate the idea of using AHK scripts to launch every game.

What do I do? I don't play Steam games on my arcade cabinet. Problem solved.

See the xinput keyboard thread stickied in the software subforum.

I eventually switched to hacked Xbox fightpads, but it's just trading one set of workarounds for another.  I still use a keyboard encoder for the exit (escape) button.

I'm considering switching back and just not playing injustice or mkx on the cab.

Im just really selective. The patch for MK and SFIV works fine for the arcade, as do Blue Estate (Aimtrak) and Sky Force.

For me there are too may great PC(steam) games coming out to not play them. I'm a firm believer in hacking a 360 controller for arcade cabs. In my opinion it is the most universal solution you can get. A 360 pad works with every emulator I've ever thrown at it and is also the most universally accepted controller for PC games. Takes a little more work sure, but its really not that difficult. Just my opinion.
