I'm just about making my second controlpanel for my custom-build Centipede-cab, and now wonder what kind of artwork I should get for the third and for a while last panel? ???
So far my
1st panel (alternate play / 1 joystick) features Donkey Kong
2nd panel (trackball w. three buttons) features Centipede, of course :)
3rd panel shall feature two joysticks and three or four buttons, though I only remember Vanguard for the last one. Maybe I'll put a spinner on it, too, but I'm not that sure if it wouldn't look odd an such a panel. I've original spinners lying around, so that isn't an issue.
I want to keep the classic-look, but still allow some changes for me to make. Any idea's of an inspiring original with nice artwork and two joysticks?
So far I could only think of Joust (might be an option) and Robotron, but there must be much more out there. Especially Atari-games would be nice, but somehow I don't remember much of them with two joysticks in the 80's area!
Let me know of any ideas! :D

For a dual stick setup, Id look along the lines of robotron or black widow.
BW is a vectory design, circles and grids that could easily be used as a design
Robotron is mostly lines and shapes as well, but has more of a "control panel" look to it.. The faux scope in the center could be used to highlight the spinner if you add that

The defender panel is all vector, and very easy to modify, and still make it recognizable as "defender"

My personal favorite 2 joystick panel is the Multi-Williams. It has artwork from multiple games. I have vectorized it as well (with the help of Tbombaci). It can of course be cut off below the 2084.
Although this probably isn't considered a golden age cpo?
Mario Bros is a 2 stick panel too.

Good ideas here, thanx! Will take some time to compare which might be the best for me.
The Multi-Williams looks a bit to overcrowded for me, but I really think of making it a lot like Joust, I like the idea that each player has it's own color.
@Nannuu, any chance you could mail me your vectorized panel? Guess I have the most hardest thing of the Joust-part done with that - it looks like mostly all artwork of the original Joust is there! :D

No problem, I'll email it tonight!

I've got this if you want it. I made it for one of my swappable panels on my new cab... ;D

Tom has the joust art CPO mostly done already done for the joust overlay, send him a PM, and he might send you his half done picture.

@Nannuu
Thanx, I'll await your mail!
@Smack
Love the sausages! Sweet idea with MsPacMan on a burger :D
@DarkKobold
Sounds great - I'll contact him soon :)

Nannuu,
Any chance I can get a copy of that Multi-Williams CP file? I'm building a machine based on Williams Arcade Classics, and that covers all 6 games in the package!

I'm now pretty sure to go with a Joust-like panel.
The four buttons are for playing Vanguard, though I don't now any game which uses 4 buttons for the second player, too? Well, at least not one I cared to play so far. ???
Don't look to close at the background, I've to rearrange some things, e.g. the wings to the top-button.
Thanx to Nannuu, I'll try to convert the Multiwilliams.ai in a Joust back again, or has anyone even a Joust cpo done? I'm not very experienced in AI! :D
