Title: Just picked up an older Buck Hunter with dead monitor
Post by: mclovin on November 04, 2016, 05:03:22 pm
I just bought this machine for next to nothing in very rough shape. It seems to boot up ok but monitor seems dead. Have power to the chassis and no neck glow. This is the extent of my knowledge on troubleshooting. I will post a picture of the chassis, there is no visible name or model number that I can see. It definitely wasn't the original chassis to the monitor as it was only held in loose by one screw as nothing lined up. Just wondering, can any old chassis be used with any tube?

Maybe someone can determine what chassis this is?

thats an early wells grander 74-xx from the looks of it
they never used that chassic as it can not drive a 27" tube

Bit difficult to see in the pic, but it looks like you may have a crack in the top of the flyback. That will need replacing for starters. C16 looks dodgy, too.

The problem is I'm not sure how to order a flyback if I don't know what kind of chassis it is. Are they generic? I have A working flyback from a G07 chassis, could that work?

I don't know about the G07 flyback, but they're not really generic. You'll need to get one specifically for that chassis.

I'm not sure what I need, start with flyback looks like this one has a crack by the adjustment knobs. Otherwise not sure what else, whatever the typical components recommended to be replaced?

the list is just the normal crap
caps,vert ic, a few resistors
it looks like it does not use the vert mod ?
do me a favor and get a picture of the flyback where u say these cracks are
your picture dose not do that

It looks like just a hairline crack. I assume this means the flyback is shot?

ok i forgot to tell u
thats is a non isolated chassic
so use a isolatiton tramsformer when u are working with it
second that is not the proper chassic for that game
i will u-load a picture of the proper 1 when i get back

ed
Title: Re: Just picked up an older Buck Hunter with dead monitor
Post by: mclovin on November 08, 2016, 06:48:14 pm
Yes it has an isolation transformer and the chassis does not look like it fits, so not original. The game is in rough shape, but it loads and can hear sound so I would like to get the monitor working if possible.

ok besides the normal stuff (caps) and output transisor , u will also want to chk the linear voltage requlater
and the vertical output ic , plus there is a few resistors in that stage that go open
let me get my crib notes.
i think that 1 also has a mod for the vert stage ?
shawn might beable to step in on that 1
