I just bought this machine for next to nothing in very rough shape. It seems to boot up ok but monitor seems dead. Have power to the chassis and no neck glow. This is the extent of my knowledge on troubleshooting. I will post a picture of the chassis, there is no visible name or model number that I can see. It definitely wasn't the original chassis to the monitor as it was only held in loose by one screw as nothing lined up. Just wondering, can any old chassis be used with any tube?
Maybe someone can determine what chassis this is?
-
thats an early wells grander 74-xx from the looks of it
they never used that chassic as it can not drive a 27" tube
ed
-
Hi ed, this one is a zenith 25" monitor its in an older cabinet, old style power supply.
-
red board (game board )?
if so u are right
ed
-
Green board exactly like golden tee.
-
Bit difficult to see in the pic, but it looks like you may have a crack in the top of the flyback. That will need replacing for starters. C16 looks dodgy, too.

The problem is I'm not sure how to order a flyback if I don't know what kind of chassis it is. Are they generic? I have A working flyback from a G07 chassis, could that work?
-
wow real early buck hunter
25" zenith
look for the board # on the pcb

I don't know about the G07 flyback, but they're not really generic. You'll need to get one specifically for that chassis.

the picture u posted is a wells gardner
what i need is the chassic # there will be a sticker and or screened on the main pcb
a part #. with that i can cross u into the wg #
i see it is a 74-????
ed
-
The bottom of the board has 5357p-007 and says HSIANG KUO 75V0 94V0
And the sticker says SER# WG839452
-
the wg dose make it a wellsgrander
so i will look for that same # on my wg stuff
and get the exact chassic # u are after
ed
-
Thanks ed, you're always bailing me out of a jam! :applaud:
-
np
i was over at klov
there is a chap posted what looks like the exact chassic
if u need i will dig the post out
thought of u right off of the hop
ed
-
i thought i know it well
>25" K7400<
i have them
what u after?
ed
-
I'm not sure what I need, start with flyback looks like this one has a crack by the adjustment knobs. Otherwise not sure what else, whatever the typical components recommended to be replaced?
-
the list is just the normal crap
caps,vert ic, a few resistors
it looks like it does not use the vert mod ?
do me a favor and get a picture of the flyback where u say these cracks are
your picture dose not do that
ed
-
It looks like just a hairline crack. I assume this means the flyback is shot?
-
ehh 50/50
btw u just gave the chassic type
ed
-
Ed, Do you have any parts you would sell for this?
-
i will help u all u need
but i hate shipping to usa
here is a link to 1 hell of a nice person
https://www.arcadepartsandrepair.com (https://www.arcadepartsandrepair.com)
will get u your chassic # later today
btw i think what u think is a crack is more like scratch
resaon is the #'s u saw are after market replacement #'s for the flyback
ed
-
I'm in Canada. I'll check to see if it is a scratch.
-
well u just made life easy
where in canada
i am in london ont.
ed
-
Calgary
-
well that anit so bad then
shawn is right on your door step
i brought home some wg's for us to look at
up-load me a picture of the complete chassic
top side of it
ed
-
Yes lilshawn has bailed me out of lots of jams. Cool. I uploaded a picture of it earlier in this thread. Do you need more detail?
-
yes a top picture showing the complete chassic
I am looking for a few hints
ed
-
See if this one is better.
-
ya that's a 7400
I have a few of them
let me fig them out
ed
-
ok i forgot to tell u
thats is a non isolated chassic
so use a isolatiton tramsformer when u are working with it
second that is not the proper chassic for that game
i will u-load a picture of the proper 1 when i get back
ed
-
Yes it has an isolation transformer and the chassis does not look like it fits, so not original. The game is in rough shape, but it loads and can hear sound so I would like to get the monitor working if possible.
-
ok besides the normal stuff (caps) and output transisor , u will also want to chk the linear voltage requlater
and the vertical output ic , plus there is a few resistors in that stage that go open
let me get my crib notes.
i think that 1 also has a mod for the vert stage ?
shawn might beable to step in on that 1
ed
-
ok
turn your chassic up-side down
and around the flyback should be a "board" #
mine is p538-001
what is yours ?
ed
-
Mine is 5357P-007
-
sorry to share this but stop work on it now
it is not built for the buckhunter nor the gt's
if u need i will the 1's that will work right
ed
-
Damn, what model chassis will work? 25" zenith.
-
i will list for u
ed
