Title: Bluetooth as a wireless controller?
Post by: chrisindfw on October 28, 2016, 04:54:03 pm
Wow it has been a while since I have been gone. I had to sell my cab for parts and now am wanting to build again! I was thinking that before I build a cabinet, I was thinking about a simple controller connected to pi. I saw this on you tube but it did not get into details on the setup.

Is it possible to:
1) Have a wireless controller with the joystick and buttons.
2) Connect it to a pi box via bluetooth over by the TV.

Do I buy two pi's or is there a different module for the buttons only with a bluetooth transmitter? Or is this not even possible?

Thank you in advance for your time!

The pi3 works fine with bluetooth, out of the box.  If you want to use a 3rd party controller and a pi2 for instance you will need to add another command line installation to install the bluetooth drivers.  There is a bluetooth installation in the raspi config somewhere I believe.
