I'd already started collecting parts to do something similar when I came across this:

It uses actual cartridges which doesn't interest me, but a neat idea nonetheless.

Seems like you could make a case with conductive buttons that press against the glass and let you control emulators. Might be a little tough on the glass, though...

My plan is to just transplant the PCB and buttons from an 8bitdo Zero Bluetooth controller into a 3D printed sleeve.
The width and spacing of the controls should work out good enough.
I'm hoping the battery is in the bottom so the thickness can be cut in half.
The shoulder buttons will probably just go unused. The charging port will need to be relocated.

Let me know when you open one. And if you get a case 3d
printed, get 2 so I can buy one from you.

Why an adapter for a smartphone with original cartridges as you can buy an origianl gameboy for cheaps?

Yeah, I dunno. I was thinking if the phone is only being used for the screen, then why not just add a screen and make it a standalone device.
It would be a lot less trouble than trying to ensure compatibility with a bunch of different phones.

If you can use this as a standard Bluetooth controller, that would be useful
