I found a local seller who builds arcade CP's. Here it is: (http://i.imgur.com/HOtF6fI.png)
They're asking $179. Now, I could build it myself (never done before), but here are the numbers I ran:
JAMMA Harness: $10
Buttons: $12.50
Trackball $79
Joystick: $22
Wood: ~$15
Artwort: $10
Total: $148.50
So at $179, it's not a bad deal. Am I doing those numbers right? Is this a good deal?

Depends -- What size trackball (2" 2.25" or 3") is it ?? 2" run about $25 where 3" are around $50 (+ about $10 shipping) Looks to be a $30 2.25" like this one ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-1-4-WHITE-Trackball-MAME-PS2-Arcade-Pc-Not-HAPP-/111692042052?hash=item1a015d4f44 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-1-4-WHITE-Trackball-MAME-PS2-Arcade-Pc-Not-HAPP-/111692042052?hash=item1a015d4f44) )
THe CP looks to be metal not wood which can be purchased for $22 + $12 shipping on Ebay (with any of the different trackball size cutouts and same button layout etc.) - Like this one with thw 2 1/4 cut out (Note : pic is upside down in listing !) ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/Multicade-Control-Panel-w-2-1-4-IN-trackball-hole-f-Pacman-Galaga-Arcades-More-/331157615590?hash=item4d1a8833e6:g:LNUAAOSw5dNWjn8- (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Multicade-Control-Panel-w-2-1-4-IN-trackball-hole-f-Pacman-Galaga-Arcades-More-/331157615590?hash=item4d1a8833e6:g:LNUAAOSw5dNWjn8-) ) is it just the metal panel or full box (hard to tell from your pic) ?
Is it a genuine Sanwa Joystick (about $22) or a cheaper knockoff ($10) ?
Is it fully wired on a Jamma harness or just the buttons/joystick/trackball installed and not wired for that price ?
-
i have bought those many times ! the ones i bought didn't have a jamma connection and the trackball was not usb or ps2 ! so make sure this is compatible with your cab !
-
JDFan, I sent them these questions, no response yet.
Mebronx, how much did you pay?

i paid the same as you ! they sell them on ebay !
-
That's a panel you put on an Pac, Ms. Pac, or Galaga to make it a Multicade. Unless you already have the cab or are building one of those, you still have a lot of work to do to be able to use it.
-
Are you buying, selling, or trading it?
No? Why is it posted in the buy/sell/trade section?

I really don't think that is what you want it to be.
-
Okay it's 2 & 1/4th inch suzo happ trackball & also suzo happ joystick.
JDFan, it's the same guy I'm buying it from. I live near Pigeon forge, Tennessee where he's located.
Is it still a good deal?

Motherscratcher, did you read my posts? What are your plans for this CP?

My plans are to install it in an empty cabinet with no current CP

Perfect. I assume it's one of the Midway types I previously mentioned? If it is, you should be OK if you're running a 60-1 board.

Should be fine for that -- You might try contacting them and see if they offer any discount for pickup (since the $179.99 price seems to include shipping) - when you click buy now it comes up with the Pay pal invoice for $179.99 so unless they add shipping elsewhere you should be able to at least get a small discount for pickup - which saves them the shipping fee and paypal fees :dunno
AS you mentioned it could probably be built yourself for a bit cheaper but then the amount of time spent getting the order together and paying shipping and waiting for the parts to arrive probably negates any savings you might be able to find.
-
I asked if they'd take $165 w/ local pickup, no response.. We will see

They said yes! The guy is super nice. He's also hooking it up to a 60 in 1 board for me ($59 more). It's worth it for me not having to do any of the wiring/CP building. I'll post pics when I pick it up Saturday

Yay $59 for a $41 board
Post where I can get it in the USA for $41.
For the record, I didn't buy the board from them.

To be fair, it's probably $41 for the board, plus $18 in labor to plug the trackball harness onto the board...

Actually $42 for the board and a $5 Flat Rate shipping charge and another $6.99 for the Trackball harness - So then the $59 charge starts to look better if they are hooking it all up to the 60 in 1 board for that price !!

How hard is it to hook it up? You literally plug in one end on the trackball and the other end on the card.

He said he was getting the board for 59, and that's not a bargin. Made no mention of what he's paying extra for the wiring. I took it as $59 for the $42 board
He probably got that $7 harness for a steal at $11

Cant be hooking it up to the board if you don't use some kin of wiring ! :dunno

I really don't want to go back and forth over semantics , but I read it as the wiring is there and he's paying $59 to get a board to put in his cab to use with the control panel. That CP would be a total rip off if there is no wiring included. Side note, he didnt even buy the board anyway.
