Title: Arcadevga good enough for ps1?
Post by: bcgamer on October 17, 2016, 02:53:06 pm
Hey guys

Wondering if my new arcadevga from ultimarc will be able to handle the ps1/GameCube titles?  That's as far as I'm going with it.  I know mame and older stuff shouldn't be a problem.

I donīt know about PS1 games but the GC ones are way more demanding.
The GC emulator dolphin needs a GPU with Pixel Shader 2.0 or greater. Some integrated graphics chips work but it depends on the model (and only with DirectX 9).

Ahhhhhh ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---

Maybe I should be taking out this old crt arcade monitor.
I was hoping it wouldn't be an issue

Andy from ultimarc said it should run ps1 without issues but I'm not too sure he knows the requirements

You need a beast of a pc to run most GC titles.  The video card is the least of your worries.  Also you are getting to the point where things look better on a vga monitor.... most GC titles are 480p and the emulators can render at even high resolutions.  The ps1 on the other hand is a snes on steroids.... you could probably run those games on a pi they are so puny.

Ok cool
I don't want to remove the original monitor in there, it's an original cliff hanger cab so I'm trying to keep it as og as possible

My Intel core duo at the moment handles the GC titles without issue

Really?  What games are you trying because anything but the simpler games (luigi's mansion, ect) tend to drop frames for me.
