Title: Ipac Ultimate question on mutiple configurations
Post by: marcux on October 13, 2016, 10:22:15 am
I’m looking to Ipac Ultimate encoder for my arcade build, I have a 4 player control setup,  but it has 48 inputs. Here is the setup I have

players 1 and 2 have 2 sticks and 7 button+2 start/select each (26 inputs)
players 3 and 4 have 2 sticks and 4 buttons+2 start/select each (20 inputs)

I have 1 trackball (happ)
I have 1 spinner
I have 3 pinball buttons 1 on each side and 1 plunger (3 inputs)
I have 3 system buttons (3 inputs)

25 of the buttons I have are RGB led

Obviously games will not be using both a trackball/spinner/player 3 and 4 at the same time.  Can the Ipaq ultimate load up configurations per game? Am I able to leave the trackball attached but not in use for 1 configuration, but then disable player 3 and 4 for another config and enable the track ball and or spinner?

You wouldn't really change the IPAC configuration once its setup.

It sounds like you need to adjust the key bindings within MAME or what ever emulator you are using. MAME allows you to manually adjust each game.

In MAME press TAB on your keyboard and it will bring up the options. There will be a section of General or all games. Then when you launch a game and Press TAB you can set the bindings for just that game.

I have a 4 player cab with the ipac, with a trackball and spinner. The ipac only controls the buttons. The joys are Ultrastik 360s in USB, and the U-Trak and Spinner are USB as well. I don't think the ipac can control the trackball and spinner. For that you would need the Optipac, I believe.

The Ipac Ultimate I/O will be able to do all the joysticks, buttons, trackball and spinner.

Hi all, I am kind of in the same configuration boat wherein I need a little direction.

I'm rebuilding my old mame cocktail cabinet from 1999 and purchased the following:

I-pac Ultimate
2-Ultimarc Spin Track rotary controls
2-Happ 2 1/4" trackballs
2-Happ Ikari style 12 position rotary joystick controllers.

The two Happ rotary joysticks have their own usb interface for the rotary portion of the controller so my question is, can both spinners and both trackballs be connected to the I-pac ultimate board? I' know where  the first spinner and trackball go but a little shaky on where to put the connections for player 2 on the other side.  Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

The Ultimate I/O board supports one trackball and one spinner only.

We have optional USB interfaces for the trackball and spinner which can be sued for the second ones.

About re-configuring on the fly, this is perfectly possible with the exception that buttons cant be connected to the same pins which are occupied by trackball/spinner. Even if the trackball and spinner were un-configured the physical connections would interfere with the buttons.
