So I'm in the process of putting together my control panel for my new cabinet and I want to put a credit button underneath each joystick that will light to different colors (like the turtles different colors in TMNT) I was originally just going to use a round RGB pushbutton, but geeze is that boring! I have the GGG coin slot push buttons on my older cab and I really like them, but the colors are of course limited to just the four options and only that.
So I figured if I could find an RGB rectangular button I could make a custom vinyl insert and make my own that could light to any color. However, I haven't had any luck finding any RGB rectangular buttons anywhere. Does anyone have any idea where I could find some or even a button I could add my own RGB unit to? I think this would be a really cool touch to the cabinet. Thanks for any support guys and gals!

You will need to find a rectangular clear button and a RGB light from a different button and combine the two. Ebay has some clear and white rectangle buttons. I have never seen one come with RGB though.

Rectangular buttons have less room for LEDs than round buttons -- Paradise's Tropical Spotlight (http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/button-leds/89-tropical-spotlight-12vdc-led.html) LEDs (0.458" outer diameter) work fine in round buttons, but not in rectangular buttons.
Consider using the 5mm joystick LED (http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/paradise-arcade-exclusive-products/556-rgb-5mm-led.html) or the Tropical Mood LED (http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/button-leds/92-tropical-mood-light-rgb-5vdc-led.html) from Paradise Arcade Shop.
You need to modify the LED socket for 4 wires instead of the usual 2 contacts/tabs.
You also need to figure out some way to mount the LED at the proper height -- 1/4" PEX (plastic water pipe) with a wrap or two of electrical tape at the base looks promising.
Without the tape wrap, the PEX is too loose in the LED socket.
Caution:
Length of the PEX (0.378" outer diameter) is critical to prevent it from shifting and jamming on the button plunger hole. (0.425" inner diameter)
You want the PEX to extend just slightly inside the button plunger hole when the button is not pressed, especially if you use the Tropical Mood LED. (0.395" outer diameter)

I can custom build an RGB NovaGemCDR for those who might want them. They are a bit pricey, due to the work and parts involved (they use the Helio9 lighting and must be built into the units), but they are available.
I had planned to put these on the store, but just haven't yet found the extra time to get it done.

I'd be very very interested! I actually just ordered a helio9 today to mess around with some rectangular buttons I found on ebay earlier today. If you can make some though I'd be in for four!
