Title: Lethal Enforcers 2. My first restoration project.
Post by: Scassidy24 on October 12, 2016, 10:09:50 am
Taking the plunge!
After building my own mame cab from scratch I'm ready to wet my beak on a real machine. Had to have this Lethal Enforcers cabinet.

I haven't had a chance to look inside yet but right off the bat I know it deserves new side art, new plexi glass, not sure if the viewing area was originally plexi? Or actually glass? The CP plexi needs replacing. Lots of cigarette burns and it's a busted up.

I'll have a few questions later when I get a closer look at the cab and more detailed pics to come

First question:  the FAQ in artwork has links to resources for side art but those are no more.  Anybody know where I could find some side art for this cabinet?

The control panel has clamps beneath but somebody took the liberty of screwing it on   Maybe they were afraid to reach past the tube to get to the clamps

Not sure what this was for. Behind the pcb foil side facing away from the pcb

This is dead no power to anything but the monitor

That's an awesome first restoration cab you've got there 8)

It seems like reproduction side art for this one is not available (yet). Your only hopes for now are touching up the original art or looking out for NOS replacements. The power supply you can just order on Happcontrols.

Good luck!

New power supply installed. Unfortunately it didn't have the wiring or harness for the power switch/lighting circuit however....

Also I realized today that the instruction card got lost on the drive home

I didn't notice it was missing until I played the game today

I cleaned out the inside of the cabinet and secured the remaining 3 mounts for the pcb as well

New instruction card I pulled the image out of my mame artwork and printed came out sharp with no pixelation

Does anybody know where I can find a 17" bulb? (http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161103/91a72ebe9d85ed321479ad8fd9e8da13.jpg)
Is this original hardware because If not I'll just slap any new fixture in?

check lowes / home depot, but youre better off just replacing the whole fixture.

So because the new power supply doesn't have the 4 pin connector I can't use the  cabinet top mounted on/off switch.

I'm thinking I'll take a power supply cable and cut it in half, wire the switch in to it on the way to the power supply.

That'll get power to the machine and to the marquee lamp.

If I could have found a schematic for the old power supply I could confirm if that switch can handle the amperage. really like that switch I think it's original to the cabinet.

I'm just not certain If the power switch can handle the amp draw of the entire machine, maybe that's what it was intended to do or maybe the old powe supply had that power switch on a relay, anybody know?

Thanks

You could wire in a 115v contactor that is toggled by the power switch.

I used one in my control panel build for my homebrew setup.

If I am working with over 5 amps and do not want to have to pull a plug, I will wire in a kill switch too.  Never pull a power cord that is smoking from the wall lol...

Also the contactor, takes the burden of the load and not the switch. So as long as you had a 115v switch it should be fine. Or I could be wrong. ;)
