I have a MAME arcade cabinet that uses an OUYA console with Android operating system running MAME4droid. When I move the trackball around, I see the mouse cursor moving around the screen, but the trackball is not working when playing games (i.e. Golden Tee). I've checked the various Android settings, but can't get the trackball to work in games. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm no arcade guru, but would love to get those devices working on my MAME system. Thanks!

Have you set it up in the controls menu of mame?
You may also have to enable it in cerain games service menus.

I've looked around the controls menu and I can specify input values for the joysticks and buttons, but can't seem to find the trackball input.

Its at the bottom of the list if I remember correctly.

Can you specify which list?

You need to change the settings for:
Track analogue X and Y.
They are under the general controls if I remember right.
Also check that mouse enabled is set to 1 in the mame config file.

Okay, I'll try that. Do you know where the mame config file is located?

It will be in the main mame folder (i am assuming its the same as the normal mame here never tried it on android!)

The mame.ini file should be in either the "\mame\" folder (earlier MAME versions) or the "\mame\ini\" folder. (later versions)
If it isnt in either, you will need to create it from the command line using "mame -cc". (ceate config)

If the mouse cursor moves when the trackball is moving, would that indicate that the mouse setting is set to 1 (enabled) in the mame.ini file?

Hi mac918, did you ever get this resolved?
I have the same problem .. using an Amazon Fire TV.
mame4droid (using .139 romset)
centipede as an example
mouse enabled in .ini file
mouse cursor shows on screen, as you said, mouse click will bring up menu, but once a game is running , only the mouse cursor is there (a big circle) and it does not register in the game as movement.
