Title: Sega Rally Revo - is lan play possible?
Post by: buttersoft on October 09, 2016, 12:35:09 am
So I discovered a second-hand copy of Sega Rally Revofor PC. It's nice and colourful, and works well at 480i for my old-school setups. The driving seems ok, nice and arcadey, which is what i'm after.

I was really wondering about lan play though. Is it possible somehow?  I have two setups side-by-side, the idea being to go head-to-head, and i'd love to link this game...

Ahh, so the contorller options are really poor. And apparently no analog steering. I'm going to cite Isamu's post on neogaf:

EDIT: It does have analog steering, actually, and I had no trouble binding it with my ancient wheels. Not sure about newer wheels.

Why in the living flying ---fudgesicle--- can't I select more than one USB controller? Why the ---fudgesicle--- is there an Xbox 360 controller as the FIRST option, and only one other controller as the second option? Last but not least, why in the name of all that is shitting bears in the forest, is there NO. ---smurfing---. ANALOG. STEERING. IN. THIS. GAME???????

Seriously, are you ---smurfing--- kidding me? The game recognizes my wheel, and I can steer with it, but the steering is DIGITAL!!!!!!!!!!! ---gosh-darn--- SRS what the ---fudgesicle--- were you guys smoking up there! Grrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :pissed: :livid: :readytochokeabitch:

I'll have a longer play tonight mb, and see if I can work something out with Vjoy. Does using a 360 controller give analog steering, or still only digital?

Such a shame, it looks so pretty :(

Yeah LAN play works fine, I did however find I never had FFB with my fanatec wheel if I used normal PC mode. There is a way to make my wheel connect in PS3 mode which showed in windows as a Logitech G25 and then I did have FFB

guess they never supported the fanatec drivers or something so I make sure I always go into Logitech mode before playing this game

Where is lan play located? I go into multiplayer, and the only option is "online"; like there's a list and that's the only entry. Is lan play a patch or something?

(To be clear, this is Sega Rally Revo, not Sega Rally 1/2)

Yeah that's a bit ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---. Sega was renowned for terrible ports, but this wasn't even a port, as I understand it.

It does have analog steering though, so I don't know what problem Isamu was having. The patch out there is just graphical, rom what I can see. I just bound to my wheel straight away in the feeder app. Not sure about anaog acceleration though, but that's not so critical. And the gears seem really jumpy, shifting up and down like lightning if you just hold the button on. Easy to skip over a few gears when all you want is a single up/downshift. More lazy design. Autohotkey can probably deal with that if needed though.

All that aside, it's got a whole huge wad of blue-sky fanservice going for it, so I think i'll have to set it up on my cabs. Totally gorgeous.
